Treecapitator

The Treecapitator Mod is a great addition to Minecraft to significantly speed up the removal of trees in the game.

It works simply by using an axe to destroy the bottom block of any tree. As soon as you do the entire tree explodes into all its individual blocks. What’s great is that it also destroys the remaining leaf blocks and gives you all the saplings that would have dropped. Probably the most useful of this mod would be taking down Jungle trees. They are already so massive that destroying them just takes so much time. Well now with this mod you can take a whole one down in seconds.

There is a neat little feature to this mod if you still want leaf blocks. Just have a pair of shears in your inventory and when you destroy the tree, all of it’s leaves will fall as well.

It’s actually not much of a “cheating” mod as it’s more of a time-saving mod. You will still take the same damage to your tools as you would normally and the time to chop will depend on what level axe you have. And likewise you will probably lose your shears in one tree if you use it on a jungle tree. Depending on the size of the tree will also determine how long it takes to remove that block of wood. Some will take longer than others. You can adjust a lot of these settings in the mod config menu from the main menu of the game.

You will need to also download the bspkrsCore API for this mod to work. Found here.

  1. Personally, I think it’s a cheating mod. But I know there are other people who do not, so I’m not stopping you who like it from getting the mod.

    • Hows it a cheating mod? You didn’t explain your case…

    • Hmm.. I feel you, but I think you have a misunderstanding of the mod. I too myself feel like it’s cheating, but it’s because we’re so used to slow cutting. When you chop a tree down with the mod, it removes as much durability it would take to do without the mod. It’s simply a speedup for players who are building big structures or their mod uses wood very often.

      • I think it may be considered cheating because, you don’t have to work to get wood anymore.

        • I’d like a version where it takes longer to cut down a tree based on how big it is, but make it so you don’t have floating tress or have to climb up to finish them off.

          • It actually does take longer the bigger the tree

        • well you still do have to collect wood.

      • ON THE OTHER HAND. Minecraft is supposed to be a survival game. When you take the bottom block off of a tree you expect it to be “TIMBER!!” not “Let me mine the rest of this tree”

  2. Really anything that saves you time in survival is a “cheating” mod.. but cheating isn’t necessarily bad if you aren’t in some kind of competition and don’t want to follow the default rules yourself.

  3. You can’t even get the bspkrsCore API anymore. It says can’t be found. This is new too right?

    • The link should be fixed now.

      December 13, 2014
      • The mods and versions listed below could not be found
bspkrsCore: minimum version required is 6.15

That’s what it says at me :O

        • The links are working fine. The bspkrsCore should bring you to his download page that has a timer counting down from 5. After that click the download button. The link for the mod itself should automatically download when you click it.

  4. For me, I’m not sure why (it might be because of other mods) but every time I try cutting down a tree (mining the bottom block), no matter what axe I use, the bottom block breaks, but only the bottom block and no others, and no tiles drop. I try to exit my world and go back in but Minecraft freezes and I have to close it. Any help?

    • You must break with axe… any other mode will only break the one thay you aiming

  5. Personally, I prefer the lumber axe from Tinker’s Construct. In case you want to get only one log block, it can get a little tedious when normal axes break all adjecent ones.
